Snickers

The most popular candy bar with peanuts is unquestionably Snickers. The peanuts sit on the top of the nougat center layer and are surrounded by caramel. The peanuts, caramel, and nougat are all covered by the outer milk chocolate layer. This candy bar has been around since 1930 and was invented by Frank Mars. It was named after a Mars family horse that was one of their favorites.

PayDay

It’s impossible not to recognize that a PayDay has peanuts. The outside of this candy bar is covered with a healthy portion of salted peanuts. The interior is made with a sort of nougat caramel. It has been made by Hershey since 1996, however, it was first brought to the market by the Hollywood Candy Company in 1932. It was originally marketed as a meal replacement bar. This candy certainly can be filling for some but it is clearly not the best meal replacement option based on today’s plethora of options.

Baby Ruth

A Baby Ruth candy bar looks somewhat similar to Snickers. One difference between a Snickers vs Baby Ruth is that a Baby Ruth uses whole peanuts whereas Snickers uses chopped-up peanuts. You can clearly see the lumps of peanuts hiding behind the milk chocolate when you look at the exterior of a Baby Ruth. This candy bar brand is owned by the Ferrara Candy Company. It was introduced in 1921 and is purportedly named after Ruth Cleveland, the daughter of President Grover Cleveland. However, a common belief is that it was actually named after the baseball great, Babe Ruth, in order to capitalize off his likeness without paying him royaltes.

Mr. Goodbar

Mr. Goodbar is a chocolate bar made by The Hershey Company. It has been made by the candy manufacturer for more than 95 years. It is similar to a Hershey Bar but with chopped peanuts inside of it. The formula for Mr. Goodbar was invented by Samuel Hinkle, however, Milton Hershey actually named it. According to Hershey Community Archives, someone tasted the bar and said “That’s a good bar”. The hard-of-hearing Mr. Hershey misheard this comment as “Mr. Goodbar” and so the candy bar was named.

Reese’s Take 5

The Reese’s Take 5 has a lot going on inside of it. Its ingredients include pretzels, peanut butter, caramel, and salted peanuts. In comparison to the other candy bars with peanuts featured here, the Take 5 is one of the younger candies. The Hershey Company introduced it in 2004. The new Crunchy Peanut is another option for a Reese’s candy bar that has peanuts.

Munch

Munch is a candy bar made by Mars. It may seem like a newer product to some but it was actually first produced in 1970. It was initially marketed as the Snickers Munch Peanut Brittle Bar. The ingredients include peanuts, sugar, butter, corn syrup, palm oil, salt, soy lecithin.

Big Hunk

The Annabelle Candy Company makes this unique candy bar made with honey nougat and roasted peanuts. You have to love this candy bar given it is made by one of the smaller candy makers in the U.S. Big Hunk was first introduced in the 1950s. It became a part of Annabelle in 1972 when they acquired the Golden Nugget Candy Company, the original maker of this candy.
