Homestyle and Buttermilk are two of the most popular flavors of waffles made by Eggo. Below we provide a comparison of both to help you decide the best one for you.
Eggo Homestyle vs Buttermilk
Taste
Eggo Homestyle waffles have a sweeter taste compared to Buttermilk. They are almost good on their own without the need for toppings like butter and/or syrup. Of the two waffles, we suspect most children would prefer Homestyle because of its sweeter flavor.
While Eggo Buttermilk waffles lack the sweetness of Homestyle, the buttermilk adds a desirable tang. This tang compliments the other ingredients to create a nice balance of flavors. These waffles are a bit bland on their own. However, when syrup and butter have been added, this style of waffle rivals Homestyle.
Overall, go with Homestyle if you prefer your waffles sweet. However, select Buttermilk if you like the syrup to add most of the sweetness with the waffle providing a nice balance of flavors.
Appearance
Eggo Homestyle (waffle on the left) looks extremely similar to Eggo Buttermilk (waffle on the right). We’d be amazed if the average person could tell them apart.
Nutrition
A comparison of the nutrition of Eggo Homestyle vs Buttermilk finds not too many differences between these two waffles. Eggo Homestyle provides a bit less fat and sodium while Eggo Buttermilk has fewer carbs and sugar.
We suspect that the small differences in nutrition are immaterial for most people and not a factor in selecting one waffle over the other at the store.
