Manwich does not contain meat. The front of the can states “Just Add Meat” indicating the sauce doesn’t already contain it. You have to purchase your own meat such as ground beef or turkey.
The directions for Manwich are basic. You just thoroughly cook your choice of meat (Manwich recommends 2 lbs.) and then add a can of Manwich sauce.
Below are the ingredients for the various Manwich products. There are no apparent meat ingredients in cans of Manwich. However, the manufacturer, Conagra Brands, indicates on its Amazon listing the following about the natural flavors listed as ingredients:
“Natural Flavors are flavors that come from plant or animal sources. The term Natural indicates it is a natural source such as salt, starch, etc.. We cannot provide specific information about the Natural Flavors as our suppliers do not provide the information to us.”
Based on the above, we wouldn’t assume the sauce itself is vegan or vegetarian since it cannot be determined if the natural flavors are animal or plant sourced.
